Getting away and relaxing isn’t always easy. For career-minded A-types, it can be hard to unplug. For those in need of a long weekend, the perfect getaway is just down the road—no plane ticket necessary.
Deep in the Texas Hill Country, The Vineyard B&B at Lost Creek Ranch, owned by Kathy and Dave Oswald, sits back off a long, winding road. Kathy has an eye for interior design, and Dave is a talented BBQ master.
Downstairs, the 2,800 square-foot dining area is waiting to be filled with guests. The ornately carved 19th century wooden bar, rescued from a fire and restored, serves as the centerpiece. Just outside, a tree-covered amphitheater serves as the perfect spot to sip a glass of wine. The surrounding vines, which were neglected for years before Dave and Kathy purchased the property, are slowly coming back to life.
The whole place has been completely renovated and redesigned by Kathy and her sister, who spent a great deal of time considering how to present the B&B. The rooms are named after wine varietals — Shiraz, Chardonnay, Cabernet, Champagne, and Zinfandel — the color and taste of each manifested in the décor. A far cry from the usual frump that is stereotypical of many bed and breakfasts, the décor at The Vineyard is clean and chic with plenty of amenities.
Whether it’s anniversaries, weddings, or romantic weekends, The Vineyard B&B has been designed to please. Guests can look forward to the gorgeous views, starry nights, and perfect comfort during their stay—not to mention an amazing breakfast menu.
