Our vines are still fast asleep awaiting the warmer weather so they can begin to shine! So shhh! Let’s try not to wake them until this polar vortex moves on out of the Hill Country. We are certainly ready for the beautiful spring weather that Central Texas is known for, and so are our vines!
It is with great excitement that we would like to announce that we are jumping into the deep end without floaties this year when it comes to our Vineyard maintenance. For the past two growing seasons, we have been working day in and day out to run the Bed and Breakfast to the best of our abilities, and make it a wonderful experience for our guests. During that time, we have trusted the able hands of our Vineyard workers to prune, train, and maintain the vines. But now we feel like it’s the perfect time for us to jump in and handle that process ourselves. After spending some time arming ourselves with knowledge and wisdom provided by Kuhlman Cellars, “Vina Vita University – Pruning and Vineyard Maintenance Class” we are about 90% complete with the fine pruning. THANK YOU so much to Chris and Diane at Kuhlman for the exceptional amount of help and encouragement during this process!
We have BIG NEWS for locals who want to try their hand at wine or jam making, so listen up so you don’t miss your chance to get in on the fun. We are giving you the option to adopt a row or multiple rows of vines. The pruning is almost done, so you will be able to pick your rows, watch them bud, train and maintain the vines, and finally harvest your grapes in Late July! Finish up by making your very own vino or jam. What a unique and fun experience. This is your opportunity to live that dream of having your own Vineyard and producing your own masterpiece. Plus, the only other way I know that you could get Shiraz grapes from mature, 20-year-old vines, is to plant vines and spend the next 20 years doing some hard work. So, skip the planting and come hang out with us at the VBB for a one of a kind experience in the Texas Hill Country!
